June 2017 (from Anne Martin):
The Nursery is 25 years old....we want you to help us celebrate..........we are planning to write a book and we need your input. Incorporation took place on 14th August 1989 Under the name Carrum Residents Action Group (CRAG), a militant group with a loud voice that constantly annoyed the council. In order to improve the relationship CRAG undertook a revegetation project in Edithvale.
Does anyone out there remember Councillor Jack Cuthbertson (Chelsea) Councillor Rosemary Drodge (Chelsea) Councillor Dalene Salisbury (Kingston). or Ria Wilson ( Chelsea Commuinity Centre)

Anne Martin, founder of Carrum Indigenous Nursery dies
5 December 2017
Anne Martin, founder and stalwart of Carrum Indigenous Nursery, died this Sunday aged 80 years.
She was a community activist in the area, a member of Carrum Residents Action Group in 1989 opposing the building of a large shed on Patterson river. The group CRAG published a book of plants indigenous to the Sandbelt region of Melbourne's south east, Flowers of the Carrum-Carrum, and established a volunteer-run nursery providing low-cost plants native to the area. Originally sited in Brixton St Bonbeach, since 2005 this nursery has operated from a site at the corner of Learmonth and Thompson roads Carrum, with the support of Kingston city council. Its selection of locally-sourced plants gives gardeners a range of plants which are most adapted to survive in local soils. Anne served at the nursery since its inception, including as president and secretary. She, Joan Doig (dec) and long-time manager Alison Kuiter are counted as stalwarts of the nursery. Anne was recently granted a life membership in appreciation of her service.
