Lomandra longifolia, commonly known as Mat Rush, is a hardy, clumping perennial grass native to the Melbourne Sandbelt region. Growing to a height of 60-100 cm (24-39 inches), it features long, strap-like leaves that are green to grey-green in color and produces fragrant, creamy-yellow flower spikes in spring.

Ideal for a variety of soil types, including sandy and clay soils, Lomandra longifolia thrives in full sun to partial shade and is highly drought-tolerant once established. This versatile plant is perfect for erosion control, native gardens, and landscaping due to its resilience and low maintenance needs. Its dense foliage provides habitat for local wildlife and contributes to biodiversity in gardens.
